Choose your title company.
When you decide to sell to us, the transaction is handled through a reputable local title and escrow company that you can choose.
Confirm who is handling the closing, review the settlement statement, and ask questions about any deduction from your proceeds.
Read the terms before signing.
Understand who is buying, the deposit, the deadlines, any contingencies, and whether the agreement allows assignment to another buyer.
Ask what can change the price, what happens if either party cannot close, and which expenses each party pays. Verbal reassurances should be reflected in the written agreement.
Bring your own advisor.
You can have an attorney of your choice review the agreement. Your own advisor can help you understand your rights and whether the terms suit your situation.
An independent valuation can provide another perspective. An appraisal is an opinion of value, not a guarantee of a purchase price.
Keep money instructions secure.
Before wiring money or sharing banking details, independently contact your title or escrow company using a trusted phone number. Treat an unexpected change to payment instructions as a reason to verify.
If a deadline or foreclosure notice is involved, seek qualified help promptly. A conversation with a buyer does not suspend a foreclosure.
